Yes, I am of the age where I did ‘O’ and ‘A’ Levels and passed them all (except for German — hated those lessons — sorry German people). I have 2 ‘A’ levels in English and History and 9 ‘O’ Levels.
I went on to become a Qualified Accountant (ACCA) in 1997 and I’m told that my attention to detail comes from this — whether it is words or numbers.
In 2003 I considered a change in direction and achieved an Honours Diploma in Journalism from the renowned London School of Journalism.
After deciding pretty quickly that a journalist’s life wasn’t for me I stuck with accounting and added an extra bit of writing on the side. The yearn to become a writer soon faded when I realised how much of a perfectionist I was as one paragraph would take me forever because it had to be just right.
So this led me to become a proofreader; happily checking other people’s writing rather than obsessing about my own.
Besides my local accountancy clients, I was the Content Editor of Egg Marketing from 2014 to 2019 and the Managing Editor of Tweak Your Biz from 2012 to 2018. I have had various other clients for my proofreading and copy editing services too — for fictional books, business blogs, eBooks and websites.
I am a member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading.
