Ok, it’s Bruce the cat here. I just want to put some things straight. This is NOT a dog house. It belongs to us cats. We just let them live here because they can be entertaining sometimes. Sian can stay as she feeds us. I saw what Monty was saying before in It’s a Dog’s Life!! so thought I’d put the record straight.
It’s much more fun living in the country than it was in Dublin. I can explore through the fields and the barns. I can’t count how many trees I’ve got to climb, it’s brilliant. There are loads of animals for me to catch and play with too. In the barn there are always some mice and rats. They are great to play with as they run really fast – but not as fast as me :). I always bring them back to the house – it’s warmer and less places to hide as we play chase around the house. They amuse me for a while but then they just go to sleep so I make sure they are close to Sian’s bedroom so she can wake them up like she does every morning with the dogs.
Those birds flying around outside really get on my nerves so if I’m able to catch one and stop it flying that’s a bonus. I love the hares too – they are really quick but still not as quick as me. They are excellent to play with in the fields then I bring them home to meet Sian too.
Every day Sian takes the dogs for a walk through the fields so I go as well – scouting out places to go and play later. I love running through the fields with the dogs – they are useful now and then. Sometimes I get a bit lost in the tall grass but normally Monty comes and finds me if I shout loud enough. I refuse to get my feet muddy in the swampy bit so wait for Sian to come back for me and carry me over. I’m not a dirty dog after all!!
Morgan is my favourite dog and we always used to play together. Until the silly dog hurt her leg chasing a van – dogs really are stupid. So now she’s in a cage while her leg mends so we don’t get to play so much. Although I do like teasing her by sitting on top of the cage and patting her on the head through the bars. The dogs are handy to cuddle up to in the winter when it’s cold – can’t wait for Morgan to get out of the cage as she’s the best cuddler.
Purdy is the other cat here. She came from London originally and apparently she’s some sort of Princess. But I don’t care, she’s ancient so she doesn’t play at all. I sometimes chase her for the fun of it but then Sian shouts at me and Monty gets in the way. I’m only having a bit of fun. And I always let Purdy eat my food if she wants it – at 9 she is really old after all. Just think – she’s three times older than me, wow! I’m getting dirty looks off Purdy now for mentioning her age soooo… moving on.
I hear we may be having other dogs to stay. That sounds cool to me. Another one to play with. Goldie stayed for a few months and we had a pact that in the house we rarely looked at each other but outside she could chase me – of course I was far too quick for her to catch me anyhow.
I’m off – mice to catch and games to play. Afterwards I think I’ll have some food then sleep for a few hours. Busy boy. Just remember – this house belongs to the cats!! Bye for now
